What is racism?
The Africans and the dark colored were not considered as humans like the rest of the world.
Racism and ethnic discrimination in the United States of America had always been an issue, and Racism has existed throughout human history.
Racism has a lot to do with slavery.
In the 17th century, African people were kidnapped from their homeland in Africa, brought to America, and sold as slaves.
The civil war ended in the 1865 and with it the slavery was canceled (afskaffe).
Although the slavery was canceled, it didn’t mean that racism was gone at all.
The black and white people were not allowed to eat together, and the public toilets were separated. Racists killed hundreds of thousands black people.
What are the problems with racism?
The problems with racism are that it creates disagreement all around the world, racism can cause a lot of damage to both individuals and communities.
Racism also affects people's general wellbeing when they are denied equal access to jobs, services and education.
The regular experience of racism can lead to people withdrawing from work or study, and diminish their quality of life.
