The clock struck seven on a winter’s evening. A bit of snow was falling over the timbers. A small patch of emptiness amongst the trees in the forest had been made, forming a perfect circle. A somewhat translucent man stood in the circle, patiently waiting. Suddenly, the snowflakes got suspended in midair and a pearly gate emerged from beneath the leaf-cloaked ground. It looked greatly divine, with ornate filigree engraved on the shiny marble and golden leaves adorning the edges. The doors of the gate opened, and light seeped onto the forest ground. The man stepped through the gate, almost getting blinded by the light.
The doors behind him slammed shut. Beyond the gate was a grand white void, with clouds of the lightest gray floating around. A few white marble steps in front of him led up to a dais. He walked up the stairs, his footsteps echoing throughout the void. He peered down at the dais. An unfurled scroll lay on the dais. He picked it up and read it. “Sir Cecil Hargrove - perished from bear attack. Please wait for our current judge, archangel Cassiel, to assist you. However, he is dealing with an issue regarding the cherubim. So, you may spend your waiting time working in the Proofreading of Heavenly Oaths Office.” He now felt completely dumbfounded.
