Racism, what does the word really mean? Is it just another word describing white people hating black people, or is there more than that…
Racism is an ideology that one race is superior and should be “on top” of every other race. Racism is actually not very common any more. There was a time period around the 1920’s. It was around that decade the Ku Klux Klan had the moment of pride. The Klan was extremely against the Afro-Americans and the tortured and killed a lot. The Klan is no longer as big as then, but at the president election in 2009 where Barack Obama was elected the Klan’ member count rose with about 25%. When looking at these numbers we can see that racism not is the same problem as it has been, but it still is a problem though.
When I was researching for this article I also came across something I hadn’t heard about untill then. It was that the Austrlian people aren’t very fond of any other races. That means not just black people, but also chinese people or people from the middle-east. But even though their oppenion is like that, there are still exceptions, and I found a very good example of that, it was in a little story called “Ah Soon”. The story is about an Australian family that gets in trouble and the chinese man who deliveres their vegetables help them out, because they once helped him. And beacuse of this stiory I really can’t understand why so many countries have the same oppenion, that they shouldn’t be there.
