I have always travelled a lot, but never really connected with the people of the country. That’s why I chose to go to youth island in Scotland. Here I would have chance to meet new people from other countries and learn about their culture and also learn them about my culture.
When I arrived on the island, I was put into a group with 5 others. We all came from different places in the world. They came from all over the Commonwealth. Some from South Africa and some from New Zealand. The camp was really cool. It was divided in to four smaller camps, where fifty people lived in each. My camp was called Camp Asia, and therefor had an Asian theme. After putting our tent up, we went out to our first activity, which were raft building.
It had to stay afloat with people on for at least 2 minutes and had to carry 3 from our group, if It was possible to have more people on the raft, we would be given extra points.
Jocelyn who came from New Zealand had often build rafts with her father, and together she and Kalesh, which came from India, would tie the knots.
