This year, I went to Youth Island camp. It’s a camp on Murran Island, which is situated off the Scottish coast. I went together with 199 other young people, from all over the world. Countries as South Africa, Australia, India, and Great Britain. I learned so much about the different cultures in those countries and it was very fascinating. I found the camp through Social media, I think it was on Instagram, it came as an ad. I immediately went on google and found the website, to read more about it.
When we arrived, it was around 11 am, so we had plenty of time. We were immediately shown off in our cabins, where we were going to stay. I had to sleep in a room with 6 other girls, two from South Africa, one from India, and three from Australia. We had an hour in our rooms to unpack and then we had to get ready for a lot of activities.
We were able to hear some information about rules etc. Then we had to go straight out and do team building, so we could get to know each other and get a little closer. Among other things, we made something where you had to transport water onto a spoon, then into a bowl, and then it was about filling the bowl first. Besides that, we were out doing yoga in nature, we had an instructor with us to show us how to do it. Then we fished too, I caught a giant fish. We had made it a small competition; I won the award, for catching the biggest fish. We made a bonfire and fried the fish we had caught, over the fire. One night there was also a party, without alcohol of course. We danced, played stop-dance, chair-dance, heard loud music, it was so cozy, and I had so much fun. It was one of the high points of the tour. When we had some free time, we went down and bathed, jumping from rocks into the water. We went for walks, sang, and were told old stories about the island.
