Write a summary of Sustainable living at home in Australia
The text is about a family from Gympie, Queensland, Australia who has been changing their lifestyle for six months. The mother of the family, Linda Cockburn, decided that she wanted a better quality life and came up with the idea of a sustainable living. The family used sun energy and was harvesting rainwater and was using their backyard and animals as their food source. They were making their own shampoo, vegetable oils and toilet paper.
Linda Cockburn have written a book about all of these experiences of their sustainable living called “Living The Good Life” to inform everyone who reads it, about how easy it can be to live a sustainable life.
The meaning of it all is to show the world that it can be done. Linda Cockburn says: “We can’t save the world, but we’ve got to remove ourselves from that horrible image of helplessness”.
An outline
In the three texts there are some good suggestions for how to lead a sustainable life.
All the texts is questioning how we got to the place we are today.
The overall theme is: THINK! In text 1 there are some pretty good arguments of how we have become and how we supposed to be. The writer tells us about how people drive from A to B, even though it might only be a few blocks away and that is crazy. We should be able to walk like they did 50 years ago. We are simply consuming too much. We have also forgotten how a nice and homemade dinner tastes because most people aren’t cooking their dinner themselves. It has been replaced by fast food and processed food.
