Presidential election is a discussed subject in the public debate. In the US there have been many discussions and a lot of debates going on in connection to finding the perfect president for the US. During 2020 there has been a lot of talk about improperly handling of the Corona pandemic, where people are being killed, people are losing their health care, kids are being forgotten, black lives are taken for granted and the economy is diving deeper. Michelle Obama is one of the advocates for better rights and conditions, and for hope for a better future in safety in the US. Michelle Obama held a speech for Democratic National Convention the 18th August 2020, where she articulated a lot of important points and topics. During her political speech, she is pointing out all of the bad things that has happened during Donald Trump’s presidency, especially during the pandemic. She talked about the handling of COVID-19 and about the consequences of improperly handling of the virus. She talked about racism and about the fact that innocent black people are being killed. Most importantly, she speaks about the presidential election, which is a major topic of conversation in America.

Michelle Obama is an American lawyer, and she is married to the former president Barack Obama, whose vice president was Joe Biden. Michelle Obama held a speech for Democratic National Convention about the election happening in November. During Michelle Obamas speech, there has been made use of argumentative features. Toulmin’s basic model has been used, and you see this almost from the beginning of the speech; “That's the story of America. All those folks who sacrificed and overcame so much in their own times because they wanted something more, something better for their kids”. In this statement of hers, you can find both the claim and the ground. The claim is expressed in this remark where she says, “that’s the story of America”, as this is about all of those people who have lived their time through toil, sweat and blood, and those who have overcome and fought against a lot in their time. The ground in this statement would be, that they wanted something more and better, and something better for their kids. The warrant to this is, that if you agree with what Michelle Obama says, this would be a logical valid argument.
