As this paper tells about various incidents between blacks and whites in South Africa from a not very distant past, it is almost inevitable not to get into the subject of apartheid, which as you know tells about the way in which the black population in South Africa was treated by the ruling white race in the period around 1950 to 1995, and which finally ended when many Western Countries – among other Denmark – made economic and other forms of blockades to get this terrible regime to its end.

The task below shows just a few examples of the bad and scary conditions that blacks had to live under in this era of apartheid.

The title of the short story “The Park” by James Matthews refers to the park in which the main character tries to get into contact with other young children. But the main character, whose name we are not told, is black while the park is only for white people from which they have actively excluded all people of color. The park itself represents a symbol of the social and political situation in South Africa, which means that the people of color have been forced out of good jobs and are limited to the poor and dirty areas around the white´s only spaces.
