”Sunday in the park” by Bel Kaufman is a short story and it is about two families who is in a park. Their children are playing in a sandbox, but the overweight child throws sand on the other one who name is Larry. The father to the overweight child encourages him to keep throwing sand and then Morton, Larry’s dad, wants to fight with him but he doesn’t, because the man is bigger than him, so instead he ignores it, and takes Larry and his wife back to their home, but his wife doesn’t agree with Morton`s decision.

The setting is in a park and it is Sunday afternoon. We hear about an ordinary family. They finally have time to enjoy being together

Morton reads the Time Magazine, which shows us that he cares about what’s going on in the world and he is intellectual, rational and must be a professor, which we can conclude when we read: “He puts his time down carefully on his lap and turned his fine, lean face toward the man, smiling the shy apologetic smile he might have offered a student in pointing out an error in his thinking.” (p. 98 line 13 -15) He is very polite and has respect for other people and he thinks realistic. An example can be when he decides to walk away instead of fighting, because of his size compare to the other man.
