Do you ever take long walks to escape your problems? Do you ever feel under pressure from constantly performing? Do you ever get beaten up by your own parents? Do you ever feel like your home is a hell? That’s what the 11-year-old protagonist feels in Charles Bukowski’s book called “Son of Satan”. Today we would normally associate pressure performing with adult problems, but that theme is indeed also emphasized in “Son of Satan”. We normally look at small children as laughing, crying and innocent creatures, but that society perspective can change. Or that is probably an opinion Charles Bukowski can support.

Young people are increasingly catching a lot of these feelings about pressure performing. Whether it is an exam or just an assignment. Something like pressure can really push a person beyond its limits, just like the 11-year-old protagonist did in the book. If you take a look at the title and at the frontpage of the book you wouldn’t be surprised if it contained something hellish. But there is a lot more under the surface of the book. If you like a lot of action and have a wild imagery that crosses normal borders of our realistic view on society - this is the book for you. Not only does it like to touch our deepest and darkest feelings, but it also conveys them into actions that subsides these feelings. Not everybody would agree on this form of decline in the form of actions, but what can you do when you’re feeling like that?
