John McCain claimed that he was against George Bush’s environment politics. He expressed that he was a non-polluting supporter, and that he was totally different from George Washington Bush. Still, he is called “McBush”.
Interviews show that McCain in some respect is more conservative than Bush. McCain would rather give tax relieves than use the money for alternative energy. He supports all kind of private marketing as well as rich man’s families.
Even though McCain considers himself as a different person with different position from Bush, and he even branded Bush’s views disgraceful – he is still considered as another Bush. McCain, opposite to Bush, wants to prevent climate changes, and he wants to stop the drillings of oil in the arctic areas – at least that’s what he says. But he doesn’t do anything to e.g. stop his vice-president candidate who is at the head for environment politics, Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin once said that the climate changes aren’t man-made, and her position to the whole environment subject is considered by Washington Post as more right-wing than the Bush- management. It’s a little confusing about the duo of McCain-Palin positions.
The next climate topmeeting is going to be held at the end of 2009 in Copenhagen. Barack Obama has already signed the arrival. McCain on the other hand doesn’t want to sign before China and India sign. His argument is that it can’t be true that two big countries like China and India can’t take the first step and do something good for the world too. In the debate Obama shows that he is more tolerant than McCain in the issue about environment and poor contries. Obama’s comment is just “We must take the first step”.
