The Dress is a novelle that were written by Julia Darling in 2006. The text is about two sisters Rachel and Flora, who fight about a dress that Flora has stolen from Rachel. It’s their mothers’ fortieth birthday, so it’s a big day and Rachel had gotten a dress for the big occasion. When it is time for Rachel to put it on, she figures that her sister Flora had taken it and used it to go with her Italian friend Alberto at a café. Their mother is holding her birthday at a very fine restaurant, and through the whole event the two sisters is fighting about the dress, and the evening is just getting ruined by that. When they end up leaving and arriving home Rachel calls her father and says she wants to come home. By that, Flora admits she stole the dress, but Rachel still don’t want to stay. At the end Flora comes with Rachel, because their mother accuses Flora of being a thief, and ends up by herself alone on her fortieth birthday.
The Dress is a story that has jealousy, and the story builds up that it is important to trust a person whom you have a relation with, to be able to tell the truth.
