I choose this topic because it’s an interesting topic that was going on not so long ago and it shows how black people really gets treated and how they get used not only in America but also in the rest of the world.

I also wanted to know what happen to the policemen that killed George and how the trial went with all the commotion that it created. In all I just wanted to know more about it and how it all went.

Who was George Floyd

George Perry Floyd jr also known as George Floyd was born October 14 1973 in North Carolina but grew up in Houston Texas. In 1997 four years after he graduated from yates’ high school he got his first conviction. From 1997 to 2005 he was convicted eight times.

In 2007 George Floyd was convicted aggravated robbery in a home invasion. He served four years in prison after accepting to a plea bargain. But in 2014 George Floyd tried to change his way of life and moved to Minneapolis and worked as a truck driver and security guard. Unfortunately, he lost his job in 2020 due to Covid 19.

How the crime happened

May 25 2020 George Floyd was arrested for buying cigarettes with a fake 20-dollar bill. At first only one police car came and arrested him without George resisting. Later two more police cars came to arrest George Floyd. one of the police officer Derek Chauvin aggressive tried pushing George Floyd into the back of a police car and somehow, George Floyd ends on the ground with a knee on his neck. While officer Chauvin has his knee on George Floyds neck people began filming them, when George began saying he couldn’t breathe. George Floyd got unconscious after 9 minutes of officer Derek Chauvin having his knee on Georges neck so he couldn’t breathe. Later he died in the hospital.
