But there is something that I must say to my people we must not try to get our rights by doing wrong. We must fight with dignity and discipline. We must not protest with psychical violence.

This is one of his points. It’s important because, he sort of says to the whites, that the blacks won’t hurt them, in their fight for freedom. And he sort of says to the blacks that they shouldn’t be violent even if they beat them.

There are some who ask us “when will you be satisfied?” We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is beaten by the police. We can never be satisfied as long as we cannot go inside to roadside motels and hotels in the cities, as long as we have to live in black slums, as long as we cannot vote – or have nothing to vote for. We will not be satisfied until we get justice.

It’s important because, he tells the people what they fight for. He tells how it is to be a black in USA, where they can’t vote, go into motels and hotels, and where the police beats them.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by their character.
