Engelske dialekter: indisk og sydafrikansk engelsk

Even though it is impossible to estimate the exact number of dialects in the English language that are spoken around the world, it is estimated that over 160 different English dialects exist around the world.

I choose to tell about two dialects:

Indian English is a distinct dialect of English.

The English language arrived in South Asia as a result of colonization. In the early 1600s the British first arrived in India. English was increasingly accepted in administrative and public fields as it became the language of government, the social elite, and the national press.

Indian English was affected by the linguistic variety in South Asia because there are more than 400 hundred native languages. The strong influence of native Indian languages is, reflected in the English lexicon. Many words like Jungle, bungalow, shawl have made their way from native Indian languages into the English lexicon.

Indian English has some particular features in reference to its pronunciation. For example, speakers of Indian English do not pronounce the "th” in words like “that “, “they “, or “three “. Instead, they replace the “th” by “d” or “t”.

2. South African Accent: Or the “South Efrican Eccent”

The South African accent can appear similar to a British one, which makes sense, as English was introduced to the country by British colonists.
