Carrie is the main character in the novelle/movie. She is a girl with blonde straight hair that she didn’t take care of and shiny blue eyes. She’s an innocent and shy girl who doesn’t say so much.
Carrie feels like no one cares for her and doesn’t make friends easily. At school, she is the victim and gets bullied for her appearance. For example, in the beginning in the locker room, Carrie was being harassed by the other girls, because she unexpectedly had her first period and started panicking. The reaction also tells us she’s never been taught about periods and that’s a little peculiar. Later on, we also see that she has been cursed with hidden telekinetic powers, and that makes Carrie White a no ordinary girl. She finds out she can control her powers and takes advantage of it later.
She got home to her devout Christian mother after a sore day at school. In this clip, Carrie looks sorrowful at herself in a mirror. Looking at yourself in a mirror symbolizes truth and reflects what our truth is. She’s reflecting on what just happened previously that day and why she isn’t like the other girls. While she’s looking at herself her powers come into play, and the mirror suddenly cracks. A cracked mirror means something bad is going to happen, and since her reflection was the last reflection it held, the bad luck goes beyond her. We also see that at the end of the movie. So foreshadowing has been used with the cracked mirror.
