The death penalty is a difficult and frustrating debate. Every angle has its own arguments that contribute to their impact. The death penalty is a grim and disagreeable debate to unpack with both sides having experiences to reference. There are 55 countries that currently have the death penalty incorporated as a legal punishment for a crime. When I hear the word death penalty my mind immediately jumps to the US. This is because most states in the US have the death penalty as a legal punishment and are often heard of.

For people who have committed crimes so severe that the death penalty is required, the death penalty is the right punishment. People who are given the death penalty could have committed crimes such as murder, terrorism, genocide, or crimes against humanity. By having the death penalty, you can assure people that the dangerous person has no way of getting out of jail. The death penalty can be a way to get justice for the crime and for family members/themselves to feel they have avenged their beloved ones. If the death penalty is not enforced for these types of crimes, they can be lucky and receive a shortened sentence. This can haunt those who were or are affected by the cruel things the criminal has done. The death penalty can provide reassurance to the public and families that the criminal is finally dead for good.
