What is the text about?

- The poem is about a bird which is caged. It sings of freedom - it wants to be let out so it can

be free, cause right now it is caged with its wings clipped and feet tied. There is also a free

bird. It hears the singing of the caged bird, but instead of helping it, the free bird wants all

the worms and the sky for itself.

Why does it relate to the theme?

- The free bird represents the white people, while the caged bird represents the black

people. The caged bird wants to be free and be able to live a life without be held down.

The free bird however doesn’t care about the caged bird, cause as long as it is caged, it

won’t be eating the worms or fill the sky, even though, there is enough for them both.
