Summary:

The short Story is about a young teenage girl who lives in an apartment complex with her family. In the apartment there have been a fire downstairs in the basement. There is a lot of Rumors going on, in the apartment. The narrator and her friend Charmaine where convinced that the fire has been set on purpose, so they decided to play detective, and to spend nights at the basement, so they could keep an eye on the others, there also live in the apartment. They were playing games downstairs, eating candy and they also saw different people’s life. Like forex sample Johnny, who struggles with anger because his father is gone. Then there is the old couple Joe and Sue who dances together to old music and just feeling love for each other. Then there is Cindy, who comes down to the basement with her laundry, but she was waiting for someone. Here, the narrator discovers that her father is secretly involved with their neighbor Cindy. The narrator and her best friend took Cindy’s laundry, and together they ran into the woods and burn her clothes.
