'8 Mile' filmanalyse

The movie is about Jimmy who lives with his mom (Stefanie), his little sister (Lily) and his mother’s boyfriend, Greg Buehl who Jimmy went to school with. They live in a trailer in a trailer park, because they haven’t got so much money. They live in Detroit in the ghetto neighbourhood where almost all the people are black. All the people Jimmy knows call him Rabbit or B Rabbit. His mother found that name to him, because he had rabbit teeth and rabbit ears. Jimmy’s family has got evicted, and they have to get some money, to pay the bill. Jimmy work in a firm, where they make the parts to cars, but his mother doesn’t work but she plays bingo almost every day, and hopes she can win something. Greg Buehl is just an alcoholic who can’t work because of a car accident. Jimmy is a rapper and he is a part of a gangster group there is called 313. Wink, Future, Cheddar and Sol is a part of this group and are Jimmy’s best friends. 313’s enemy is ¨The Free World¨.

One day Jimmy went to ¨The Shelter¨ with 313 for battling against other groups. When Jimmy was going to battle against Papa Doc. Jimmy choked, and all the people laughed at him. Jimmy walked away from The Shelter. Jimmy got a new ¨girlfriend¨ instead of Jeneane, who he broke up with. Her name was Alex, who he had sex with in his firm. Jimmy and the rest of 313 spent some time with Alex and her friends. One day Future registered Jimmy to the battle contest, even though Jimmy said that, he didn’t want to be in the contest. Jimmy turned really mad at Future, and didn’t talk to him. One day Jimmy was beated up, in front of where he live by Wink and The Free world, because he beated Wink up in a music studio, when he saw Wink and Alex having sex. His mother came after that, and was nice to Jimmy, even though they had a lot of fights. That was because, she won in bingo, and they now wouldn’t get evicted, because they had enough money, to pay the bill. Before the battle contest began, Jimmy changed his mind, and went to the shelter, and apologised to Future. Jimmy started the contest winning against Lickety Lick. Then he was going to rap against Lotto. The crowd loved him, and he won. Now he was going to rap in the final against Papa Doc. Jimmy wanted revenge from last time, when he choked. Jimmy started the battle, and was mean to Papa Doc in his rap. When it was Papa Docs turn, he couldn’t say anything. He choked, and Jimmy was now the new champion. The crowd loved Jimmy, even though he was white, and all the other were black. When Jimmy and his friends walked outside, he said that he wanted to go his own way as his mother said. Then he walked away.
