Cocio is a chocolate milk drink produced in Esbjerg, Denmark. Cocio is well known by Danes, and it is often consumed on the street mostly with a hot dog. It’s also very popular in Scandinavia and some regions in USA namely New England. The company makes a 100% natural chocolate milk with no preservatives, yet the freshness date on the bottles often exceeds one year.
The founder of Cocio was Anker Pallesen in 195. He and his wife began researching the recipe in their own kitchen. In the beginning the new factory did make 1000 bottles a day. In 1976, Anker Pallesen sold the company to The Borden Food Corporation in United States, but the production continued in Esbjerg. In the 80s Cocio released a new 1 litre bottle, and the drink gained popularity in Denmark. Cocio also had the first commercial in television. In 1989 the Cocio Company bought the rival named Congo who had won the 25 percents of the market at this time. With the takeover, Cocio was alone on the Danish market. An examination shows that 96 % of the Danish people know the product of Cocio, and that’s like the same as Lego and Carlsberg. Cocio has made 5 different chocolate milk: The normal cocio (the original), cocio light, cocio with orange taste, cocio with vanilla taste and cocio with coconut. I don’t self had tried over than the original cocio and the light and I didn’t even know that the where so many before I read it.
