Description of Summerhill : Summerhill is a school where the students have the opportunity to control their own education. They are left without rules or discipline. It was founded in 1921 in Suffolk by A.S. Neill. Neill and his first wife had the idea, “to make the school fit the child – instead of making the child fit the school. They are divided into 3 groups according to age. The age is five to seven, eight to ten and eleven to fifteen. There are boys and girls at this school. There are a lot of foreigners at the school mostly Americans. The students are staying at the school like a bording school .
The student have no fear or hate. Some of the students will avoid lessons for a while but they all return and they love it. Eks.: David who got sick with Whooping cough said “I´ll miss Roger´s lesson in geography”. David is now a professor of mathematics.
And Jack who failed in his university exams now has a job as an engineer. He came in to the director office as his equal and left with a better job.
The teachers at Summerhill cannot refuse to teach students the required subjects. All of the students at Summerhill have the opportunity to take the exams for university but very few want to do it.
