The poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson, is right for me in some ways. He is right about the importance of having a good laugh. To win respect of intelligent people is a matter of your interests. I think that the time when the poem was written, it was important to be talking to clever persons, often doctors or lawyers, to show that you had status. Now you can talk in a bad language, and people do still respect you. And who need respect from every intelligent person in the world? I don’t. I only need the respect from the people I care about, and care about me.
It is also important to find your real friends in life. Yes, maybe you are having fun with some of them, but when you need help, or someone to talk with; you will find your real friends. It is always good to have a real friend to stick with through life, although it might not be necessary for everybody. It is also important to learn to stand on your own. Some people love not each other for what they have done, but are judging them on their looks. That’s wrong, but it might be one of the things no one can change.
