Shrek 2 is the second movie in the Shrek-trilogy. The story in the first movie is about the beautiful princess Fiona who is locked up in a tall castle guarded by a huge dragon, because her father has made a promise to “the fairy godmother”. But the big ogre, Shrek, comes and rescues her after he passes through burning hot desserts and icily cold mountain sceneries. And just like in every fairytale they get each other. But the Shrek movies aren’t just like any other fairytale, since they even though get each other in the end, - but not the way you would have imagined. Because you find out, that the beautiful princess Fiona is actually an ogre like Shrek.
And that’s the beginning of Shrek 2. Shrek and Fiona is married and lives in harmony and peace in Shrek’s private swamp, until they get a message from Fiona’s parents, who is inviting them to their kingdom “far far away”. Shrek isn’t even considering that they are supposed to go, because Fiona’s parents don’t know she’s married to an ogre instead of the beautiful Prince Charming, but Fiona persuades him to go.
After many days traveling they come to the kingdom “far far away”, and everybody gets chocked because they were expecting that Fiona was a beautiful princess and married with Prince Charming. Particularly the father gets choked because he had arranged a wedding for Charming and Fiona, and now is she married an ogre, so the father hires a hitman, Puss-in-boots, to kill Shrek. But not everything is going the way it should, when fairy godmothers, potions, cats in boots and ogres get involved.
