To introduce myself; my name is Mrs. Wilkinson and I have send the application for a boy named Billy Elliot. I’m a ballet teacher, and that is why I know Billy. Through the years I have seen lots of good ballet dancers, but never one with a potential like Billy. First time he joined my ballet team, was first time he really danced. Of course he wasn’t good, but there was still something about him, the blink in his eyes, the concentration he had, the radiation, which was telling me that he could be a lot more than just a normal ballet dancer. But this is just the second reason, causing that I’m writing this letter.

The first reason is, the way he is, and the way he had grown up. You see when Billy was a very little boy, his mother died. His family and people around him have almost forgotten that. But he need and miss his mother every day. His family was in the working class, so he wasn’t the spoilt type of child, and money wasn’t really the thing they got most of. In his father’s family they have been miners for generations. And the contemporary problems with strikes because of the oil and coal thing don’t really make it better. His dad and big brother Jackie and Tony are a bit rougher than Billy. So that his father have pushed him to box, and brother bullied him didn’t make it easier.
