Roger Hedlund lives at a farm with his wife and two daughters. He and his wife visit her sister one weekend, but as they drive they notice that several cars are going west towards their home. Out of curiosity they park the car and sneak through the muddy fields. Seeing the house full of kids drinking and smoking shocks Roger, and he decides to return to the car. Especially the sight of his sweet little daughter with a cigarette tares him apart. But in his head a memory from many years ago turns up. It reminds him of the party’s they used to go to. The very same kind of party’s where he and his beautiful, lovely wife met. Finally he has to face up to the fact that they are not children anymore and that it might be time to “let them go”.

Roger is a strict man, he is the man of the house and he sets the rules. But right from the start we discover that inside of him there is a softer side. We hear how he commands the cat to be outside but when the rainy night comes he soften up and goes out in the rain to find the kitten.
