When Roger and his wife Martha are on their way to Grand Rapids, they see an awful lot of cars driving their way. There is a party going on, on a cruise ship. Roger wants to check the party out, so he and Martha join the party. Roger did not know there were so many teenage kids in the county. Roger sees his daughter smoking cigarettes, his wife wants to confront her with it. But Roger says that he is tires of being a dad and tells his wife to leave their daughter alone.

They made it to Grand Rapids at 4 A.M.

Roger seems like a good father. Not cruel or bad. Even though one night, he didn’t wanted to let the kitten back in the house. He also seem like a good husband, still the text does not say anything about his relationship to his wife. The episode where his daughter smoke a cigarette he does not say anything to her, though his wife wants to. I guess that gives us a clue about how good he is as a parent, or maybe the fact that he is so tired of being a dad that he does not want to say to his daughters what they should or should not do. Yet they are teenagers, and pretty much don’t need or want a parent to tell them they can or cannot do.
