Most of the United States has temperate climate. Parts of Mid-Atlantic and southeastern region have humid subtropical with hot & humid summers and cold to cool winters. Northeastern and Midwestern region have humid continental with warm & humid summers, and cold & snowy winters. Southern Florida and Hawaii have tropical climate with warm-year round with wet and dry season. Coastal and Southern California have climate with dry summers. Parts of southwestern region have desert climate. Oregon, Washington and southern Alaska has oceanic climate with wet, mild winters and mild to warm summers. Most of Alaska have subarctic or polar climate. The east coast recieves more precipitation than west coast. Extreme weather is not uncommon. Hurricanes, tornadoes and Earthquakes occurs. Most of the world's Tornadoes occurs in the country.
