Tasmania is the only state and island in Australia and it is the most far away you can get from Denmark. The shape of the island reminds of a heart. It is the 26th largest island in the world. The geology says that the mountains have been there for millions of years and the place is one of the few places where dolerite rocks dominates the landscape. The capital is Hobart and it is the second oldest capital city after Sydney.Tasmania has its own parliament and its own minister. Even if Tasmania is part of Australia, decides them self. They decide what they want to spend they money for. It is the smallest state in Australia and yet it is one and a half times as large as Denmark with an area of 68 thousand square kilometers.
The climate is mild and the rainfall is regular. The Roaring Forty’s wind gives the island the cleanest air in the world. On the west coast the rainfall is about 3 meters of year and the east coast it is less than 20 centimeters of year. Hobart is Australian’s second driest city. The Tasmania weather has four seasons. The warmest months are December, January, February and March. The temperature is between 17 and 23 degrees. The autumn has many sunny days and the winter is from May to August. The winter temperature is between 3 and 11 degrees. Spring is September, October, and November and brings the ocean many wildflowers.
