In Antilles they speak Dutch, English and Papiamento. Papiamento is a language between African and Portuguese languages. Antilles was established on the 15th December 1954. The capital in Antilles is Willemstad. Antilles is 994 square kilometres and lies to the right of Aruba. The climate is tropical with a warm weather all year around. In the summer months they can have trouble with hurricanes caused by the wind wall islands. They have a lot of shipment with petroleum and oil refinement (olie rensning). All the consumers on the island got there goods from Venezuela, United States and Mexico being the major suppliers. The Dutch government also supports the island with substantial development aid (udviklingsbistand) a large percentage of the population on the Antilles is from European colonists and African slaves who were bought in the 17th to 19th centuries. The rest of the population is from the other Caribbean islands and Latin America. The most people in the Antilles are followers of the Christian faith. The tourism is mostly from the United States and from the other islands.

The Netherlands Antilles competed in the winter Olympics in 1988 and finished 29th in the bobsled and they were 1 seat ahead of Jamaica who finished at 30th. But baseball is the most popular sport several players made it to the major league, such as Xander Jan Bogaerts and Andruw Jones. Xander Bogaerts competed in 2013 World Series for the Boston Red Sox against St. Louis Cardinals. Andruw Jones played for Atlanta braves in the 1996 World Series and he scored 2 home runs in the first game against New York Yankees. Three athletes from the Netherlands Antilles competed in 2012 summer Olympics.
