I always thought since I was very little that it was only bad families who quarrel with each other. So it has never come to my mind that it was us, my family and I, who were not normal. My sister and I were brought up with “you do what you have been told and do not answer back”. And that has never been a problem, because I thought it was normal, but over my teen years I saw how my friends were arguing with their parents and I knew that they were completely normal people like me.
One day I just couldn’t do it more, I could no longer be under my parents' dominant rules. I was forced to respond, explain to them that I also have an opinion on things, and that they should not decide everything. It was maybe the entire quarrel for all the quiet years that came out on the same time. That day I think my parents and my relationship change for good. It was maybe me who kind of destroyed the relationship between us. That day I disappointed them. It’s really hard to witness when my sister has a good relationship with our parents, and I stand back there and think that’s my family. I should be with them. I don’t hang out so much with my sister anymore. It’s maybe adult enough that I stand by myself and my opinions, but it's also childish that I cannot be with my family without being angry at my parents. But fortunately it’s only half a year, before I turn eighteen, and can move away from home.
