We hear music all the time, on TV, on the radio, on the Internet and even in the supermarket.

Why do we want all that music? Does it make us feel happier? Does it make us relax? When you turn on the TV you hear that music is on almost every station. Before the news starts, they have their own little jingle. Their own theme music. Before your favorite show begins, there’s also a theme music that you can remember, and if you like the music you probably start humming. And if there are lyrics you will maybe start singing along.

Everybody doesn’t like the same kind of music. That’s why there are so many music genres. There are 44 different kinds of music genres. One of the most popular genres is “Pop-music”. It’s mostly teenagers who listen to pop-music. It’s not all teenagers who listen to pop-music! But of cause it’s not always been like that. In the mid-1970s and early 1980s it was Disco everybody listened to. It was very popular. There was pop music, but it wasn’t as popular as disco-music.

One of the most famous music artists of all time would be Elvis Presley or as he was called: “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Everybody loved him. He was an icon, an idol, and even a role model for someone, and some people also listen to his music now, even though he’s dead. Elvis took an overdose of pills witch of cause killed him. And many people thought, “Why would a man who had so much attention and was so rich, kill himself?” Nobody knows.
