Globalization is happening at a rapid speed, and there’s not really anything we can do about it anymore. The start of globalization I guess was right after the Second World War. The allied, or more specifically the Americans were the big heroes in that war, and when the world needed financial help they were there right away handing money out and creating future allies and business partners. It was actually kind of a smart move. And because of that move, they became everyone’s favorite country, and everyone started copying them. Importing new and exciting products from America, and after a while even our culture started to look more and more like theirs.
I think globalization is a great thing. I’m a big fan of it in fact. But of course there are many cons. I see the fact that the many tribes in Africa are changing their culture, as a huge con. That’s the worst thing about globalization. Of course if they can have a better life by becoming more modern they should do it. But if they can keep living like they are living now, I definitely think that would be the wiser choice. I saw a show on the television a few years ago. It was about a British woman if I remember it right. She suffered from stress and simply had to do something different from her normal boring everyday life, if she didn’t want to end in a depression. So she decided that she wanted to go to Africa, and visit the many tribes down there. See how they lived compared to back in Britain, and she was surprised at how happy the tribe people were. No complaints and pouting, even though they almost were living like animals. She came to the conclusion that it was because they were free of the modern technology, and I think it would be sad if there were no reminder left anymore, that we sometimes have to take it down a nudge, and free ourselves of all the stressing cell phones and computers. Having a role model to look at is always good and helpful.
