When I was 11 years old my brother Christian moved away from home, and the year after that my sister Christine also moved away. Then it was suddenly only my little sister Josefine and I who were living home with our parents. Now, suddenly we were not the small ones who didn’t have to do the kitchen and stuff like that anymore. It wasn’t the only reason why it was a bit sad to “loose” my big siblings, because I’ve had so many childhood memories with them, and maybe I will not have as many memories in the future as I had in the past.
I specially remember once where I was sitting in my pram and my big brother was pulling me. He, and probably me too, found it very fun when he let go of the pram and let let me wheel down the hill. Unfortunately, I and the pram ended in a bush of nettles. In the moment it wasn’t much fun, but now we are often laughing at it.
When I was little I was also very fond of the sweeper truck which drove through our neighbourhood sometimes. I didn’t pronounce the Danish word sweeper truck (fejemaskine) correctly because of my low age, so it was called “fejemagine,” and is still called that in my family.
