The Mayan People

I’ve chosen to talk about the Mayan people, because I think they’re a very special tribe.

Mayans live in the southern Mexico, Maya area is also extended throughout the northern Central American region including today's Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador and western Honduras. Today there is about 7 million people in the Mayan tribe

Archaeological treasures tell us that the Mayan began to build ceremonial architecture for approximately 3000 years ago.

The earliest monuments consist of simple burial grounds, forerunners of the pyramids, which were later build.

The most interesting monuments are the pyramids that were built in the religious centers and tribe leader’s palaces, they’re very big, and very beautiful, and these temples and burial grounds are also big tourist attractions. Other important archaeological remains is also found, carved stones (which the Mayans call Tetun), that picture rulers and contains hieroglyph words describing their way of building, their war victories and other works.

Many consider Maya art and architecture from the years where they were one of the most powerful tribes that existed. From year 200 to 900 as the most sophisticated and beautiful art in the new world.

The mayans were actually the first people in the world who introduced “numbers” and they had the same zero as we got today.
