In Jane Austen’s time: girls had to be married as soon as possible, and with a rich and noble man, boys inhered all the money, or most of them, and if the family didn’t got any boys, the nephew or an other close family member would inhere it. Now girls are freer, to marry who they want. It isn’t the parents who choose who they are going to marry, and they also choose when they are going to be married, if they are going to be. Nowadays girl also can inhere it. And it’s not only the boys. |
