Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen. The book was first published in 1813.
The main character Elisabeth Bennet lives in Hertfordshire with her four sisters and her mom and dad. It all starts when a rich gentleman called Mr. Bingley moves into Hertfordshire. At a ball Mr. Bingley danced a lot with Jane, Elisabeths sister, and they fall in love with each other. At the ball Elisabeth meets Mr. Bingleys friend Mr. Darcy, and she didn’t like him. Later Jane rides over to see Mr. Bingley and his sisters, but she gets fever and has to stay there for a couple of days. Elisabeth walked about 2,5 miles to see her sister. When she arrived she had mud all over her dress from walking over the fields. She stayed there as long as Jane was sick, but she didn’t like the company. When Jane got fresh again, they took home. A couple of days later they received a letter from there cousin, who inherited the farm. When he arrived he told Elisabeths mother that he was going to propose to one of the girls and his favourite was Jane, but Mrs. Bennet told that Jane almost always was proposed to Mr. Bingley. So he proposed to Elisabeth. But she turned him down. And then he proposed to Elisabeth best friend Charlotte and she said yes.
