One of the most memorable days in history was the day the United States of America was attacked by planes controlled by hijackers. 3000 people were killed in 4 attacks including the Pentagon and The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Many people were and still are affected by the attack that took place September 11, 2001. A lot of people lost a family member, a parent and a friend and will forever remember 9/11 as the worst day of their lives.

The first attack took place shortly before 9 A.M towards the South Tower and shortly after that the North Tower was attacked too and at 9:40 A.M the Pentagon was crashed. In between the time of the collapse of the Twin Towers a fourth attack took place in Pennsylvania on an open field. Many people thought that attack was meant to be hitting the White House or the Capitol.

I remember that day clearly as I was celebrating one of my friends birthday. We were eating dinner and suddenly we heard the volume of the television being turned up quite loud. We all turned our heads towards the TV, and even though I was only 8 years old I immediately understood the situation and so did all the other kids. I was shook. I looked surprised at my friends and nobody said anything in a while. It’s funny because even though it wasn’t happening to my country, even though I probably didn’t know any of the victims it touched me deeply. It was the graphic images, the grief in all the Americans eyes, the thought that something like this could even happened. It was the fact that if such an attack could happen to such a well developed country like America it could happen to us too. Though I can’t say I suffered as much as the Americans, it was still really frightening. The subject was brought up a lot in the following days at school. When I met someone I haven’t seen in a while, one of the first things we mentioned to each other was 9/11. It was strange because I almost felt guilty every time I laughed and had a great time. Even though it wasn’t my fault it felt wrong, and I know for a fact that a lot of my friends were feeling the same way too.
