“Many people calls Denmark the mini USA, quietly we are getting the American lifestyle under our skin. But when did the American impact get an influence on the Danish way of living, and is it really that bad?”

It all started in the early 1900´s, when the industrializing came to the Western Europe.

It brought many American ideas to Europe, and we started being more open for foreign ideas and way of working. And they called the past century “the American century”.

After the Second World War, USA confirmed their status as a superpower. The most of the world was celebrating them, and wanted to copy and paste their way of living.

The Fashion and Glamour impact

Hollywood, sports and music industry in the U.S. has huge influence on fashion in Denmark. If I should mention one very current example, it is the television series "Sex and the City" with Sarah Jessica Parker in the leading role. She has been recognized as a style icon with her city vintage look, which makes it look a breeze out to go shopping, cafe or at a party in a couple of high heels, even though she is in an advanced stage of pregnancy. I think that is a good example, it tells how much women, and even some men, just can’t go outside their own door, without looking like a Hollywood star. It doesn´t matter if their shoes is 1 or 2 numbers to small, they don´t want go outside in their tennis shoes. My mom is just like one of those people, she can´t even go to the supermarket without having the right outfit on, and some makeup. And if it wasn´t for the American ads and TV-shows I don´t think
