The news reader tell us about a mom who is using 50 hours each week at the internet playing games, and a dad who has an obsession whit porn sites. She tells that this obsession of the internet can affect 10% of the population. An expert has told that internet addiction is an addiction like any other kind of addiction, and the expert says that children are at serious risk to, their parents have to watch them, an control them, so they don’t use all their time in front of the computer. If some kids stop playing with their friends, or stop talking to their family, and instead isolates themselves at their room in front of their computer, it should be a sign of an upcoming internet addiction, and then the parents have to help their child avoid this.
Commentary and discussion
I think we have to take internet addiction serious, but I don’t think it is a huge problem like smoking, food addiction or addiction to drugs. I think it is a thing we have to think about, and I think it is a thing we will hear more about in time. It is something we have to investigate in, and find out new things about. The internet is still new and the addiction to it will become a bigger problem. Parents will have to help their children so they do not end up being addicted to the Internet. Once their children start to not choose hobbies, such as friends and sports, parents should begin to pay attention sometimes on what the children spend time on the computer doing.
