The young magician Nathaniel summons one of the most powerful demons in the world Bartimaeus to fulfill a daring job. He must steal The Amulet of Samarkand from Simon Lovelace, who is a respected wizard in the parliament. Bartimaeus gets the job done, but Nathaniel soon realizes that he has got himself in deep.
What made you want to read this book?
I have read this book before in Danish a while ago, and I recalled it to be interesting. So I decided to try it in the original language. Another reason could be that I mainly read fantasy.
Characterization.
Nathaniel: Skinny, dark hair, big eyes, short s Smart, industrious, rebellious, craving for revenge and respect
Bartimaeus: Can take the form and shape of anyone or anything s Dangerous, powerful, humorous, witty, good
Weakness.
I don’t think the book has a weakness, although I do think the plot gets a bit confusing towards the end.
Recommendations.
I think boys and girls from about thirteen years old and up would enjoy this book. The book is at times a bit complex, and would therefore be a bit too hard for someone younger.
