(The following story, written by a Pakistani woman born in England, takes place in an English town in the 1950’s.)

“We Muslims hold our Holy Prophet dearer than our Mother and Father and everyone else. Drawing of Holy Prophet is strictly forbidden in Islam and we expect other religions to respect it as well.”

This sentence was said by a Muslim on the internet when he saw the pictures of the Holy Prophet, Muhammed in all the newspapers in Denmark. And I’m pretty sure every other Muslim agrees with him. I have this in my assignment because I think the story “Pictures” has everything to do with drawing of Holy people and things because we see Mrs.Iqbal’s reaction when she sees the picture Amina made and how the mother told her that they couldn’t let her father see the picture and that’s for sure because of the wrong thing Amina did.

The main conflict is that Aminas family is a very religious family and they are Muslims. It’s very important to know that the Prophet Muhammed had forbidden all Muslims the drawing of the Holy Prophet from Nazareth and his mother, in case they should be worshipped. Muslims also think Jesus was a very good man but didn’t and still don’t regard Jesus as the Son of God.
