I chose this topic because I think its incredible, how killing another person can be the solution.

What is it?

A death penalty means the executions of a prisoner ordered by a court of law, as a punishment for a serious crime, most often murder!

It isn´t a new phenomena – it has existed for over thousand years all over the world.

The first recorded death penalty was about 1800 years BC. Back then they used drowning, breathing, burning, or impalement methods.

The electric chair

A voltage of about 2500 V, that’s going through the body. You sits in af chair and your body are attached to the shaved scalp and the ankles. The power turns on twice, in one minute.

Can you survive the electric chair?

I head a story about a man who sweated so much that the power flowed around him and not into his body. There is a rule that says you will be released if you survive the electric chair.

So the man got released even do he was guilty. Three days later the man died, because his body, funny enough, coulden´t take all that power at once.

Today

Many have worked to stop the use of the death penalty since 1977. At that time, only 16 countries have abolished the death penalty in law or practice. Today, the number of states that have abolished the death penalty, up to 140 - nearly two-thirds of the world's countries. The five largest countries that stil use death penalty right now are China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the United States.
