Gossip: Nature, Impact, and Societal Role

Gossip is many things, and there were many kinds of gossip. It is sometimes bad and sometimes good. There is girl gossip, and it’s about what we girls like and what we like to hear about; such as news, things we can do with ourselves and much more. Sometimes I think it’s too much, because the magazines write about people’s private life, but people will read it if is gossip about one person they like. I think if there was no gossip in the world, then the world would be boring, because magazines would not have things to write about, and so we would have nothing to read. And if it was media gossip there would not be something on the television. Everybody has something to talk about if you have ever read or seen the new gossip. There are many different magazines and sometimes the gossip is the same, but it is seen from different angle. You cannot destroy gossip, because there will always be gossip in the world, but most of the gossip comes out in magazines and in other types of media. You cannot try to remove gossip, because people will always talk about gossip, and in removing gossip, you have created another topic for gossip, so I don’t think gossip will ever be absent from society. Gossip can destroy people. For example; we see people who are forced to quit their jobs as a result of an embarrassment that spreads through gossip. Some people can become psychologically damaged, due to gossip. An example of this can be found in a newspaper in Denmark where is it was presented that a women named Henriette Kjær who did not pay her debts and was convicted as a result, but it was later revealed that she was psychologically disabled. Because this story was made public through the newspaper, the employers of Henriette Kjær found out that she was psychologically disabled and fired her as they thought it bad publicity for their company.
