It’s about a child, who’s having its first day at school. He doesn’t feel welcome, you can read the in the line that says “spent the years inventing games, that don’t let me in”. The child sees all the bad things and tell how he feel he’s a long way from home and how it don’t understand why there’s railings all around the school, and begins to think that maybe the railings is there to keep monsters and stuff like that off the school ground. He’s very nervous, so nervous that he doesn’t even remember his name. I think that no matter how close he lived to the school, he would still feel like he’s a millionbillionwillion miles from home, because it’s all about not knowing anything, not being on your home field.
In this school year I’ve had two “first day at school”-days. When I started at “Tommerup Efterskole” and when I started at “Privatskolen Als”. When I started at Tommerup it was a little scary in the start, well I knew two friends from home, who also was going to attend at the same school, and therefore it wasn’t that scary. Another thing is that at an Efterskole nobody really knows anyone, not really. So we all had nothing to lose and we all wanted to have some friends, so everyone was very open and everyone wanted to get to know each other.
