Georgia is a state in the United States, where there live approximately 9.5 million inhabitants. The federal state´s length is 480 km, while the breadth is 370 km.

The Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto travelled to Georgia in 1540, and examined the State inside the United States. It was England who controlled it. They controlled it around 1670, when the British founded the colony of Carolina, what today is South Carolina. During the war between England and Spain, fled a third of the slaves and gained freedom by attaching themselves to the British forces. After the war, Georgia became USA´s fourth state.

Georgia borders on 5 states and a sea, which is Florida southwards, to the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina eastwards, to Alabama westwards and to Tennessee and North Carolina northward.

Georgia´s flag consists of three horizontal stripes of red over white over red and has a blue canton, where the State´s weapon is placed in a circle of 13 stars. The thirteen stars represent the federal states, which first went together to the United States, and that Georgia was one of these. The flag was introduced the 8. May 2003.

Atlanta is the capital and the largest city in the State of Georgia and the main city of the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States. Atlanta is a modern city with a surprising outbreak within culture. In addition, there are a wide selection of attractions, restaurants, music, theatre and sport. The city has approximately 500.000 inhabitants. In contrast to other towns in the south, were Atlanta not so racist and therefore many African Americans moved to here. Since 1974, all mayors, as well as the majority of the city´s fire chiefs and police chiefs have been African American. Today the population of Atlanta however is mixture of all races. In 1996, the city hosted the summer Olympic Games. There were built several stadiums and sports venues which are open to visitors. It also has a Zoo, Zoo Atlanta and one of the world´s largest aquariums, Georgia Aquarium, located in the center of the city.
