Woodstock was a three-day big music festival near White Lake in the town Bethel, New York USA, where artists like Jimi Hendrix and The Who performed. Woodstock's place in music history is legend. It was a career changer for some artists, a sales boost for others.
Woodstock festival was held on a big field from August 15. to August 18. in 1969. They expected around 100.000 people, but ended up with half a million people to join the big festival, and that was a problem. There were not enough bath, toilets, food, and water, and there were no longer enough gates to check the tickets, so lots of people just walked in without paying, only about 186,000 tickets were sold.
All the musicians performed for free, so all the proceeds from food, water, and tickets, went to charity.
During the festival, there was a lot of rain that transformed the field to a big mud swamp. The traffic was so bad to, because there were so many people, so they just left their cars in the middle of the road, and walked in the sideway to the festival. It caused almost eight miles long queues, but almost everyone left Saturday, so when Jimi Hendrix as the last musician performed, there were only 25,000 left.
