Taking Woodstock is as the name suggests about the popular music festival in Woodstock in 1969. The movie was released in 2009 and is directed by Ang Lee. We see the whole movie through the eyes of a Jewish kid named Elliot who is a guy trying to do the right thing and he ends up becoming one of the organizers of the festival. He moves back home to help his family out with their motel business and forgoes his dreams of heading to California and he also ends up becoming the President of the local Chamber of Commerce. By using his license to hold a local art event he hosts the canceled music festival in a city nearby called Wallkill in the hopes of saving his family motel and it did but it also turns out to be kind of a disaster.

I think it was a quite good movie because I think it’s an interesting story behind it and also they did a really great job special effects for example with the trippy scene when he comes out of the minibus tripping on some sort of psychedelic drug. It’s also a different kind of movie which I like. Not many events which happened 40 years ago would inspire a comedy. I think one of the biggest let downs was the fact that we didn’t get to hear any of the music played at the actual festival. That could have made the movie much better in my opinion. The acting throughout the movie wasn’t too shabby either.
