The movie starts with, Johnny losing his big brother Jack in an accident. “It shouldn’t have been him dying,” his father says. “It shouldn’t have been Jack dying”. “God took the wrong son” he always said, the angry father. Many years after in 1945 - the end of the World War 2 – he took with the army to Germany. He was already in love with a woman called Vivian, and so he called her all the way from Germany, to ask her to marry him, when he comes back. She replies that she hasn’t seen him for over two years, how is it possible to get married then? Above mentioned, her dad didn’t even like Johnny. All though he promised her to live in a beautiful house, in a beautiful place and so go on…
Well she changes her mind. But before that, while Johnny was still in the army, he bought a guitar and began writing his own songs. Songs about how tough the war was. When he went back to the United States, he married Vivian, and with her he got the baby-daughter, Roseanne. Many bills soon emerged and it was very difficult to pay them all up. While time goes by, Viv gets more and more angry at Johnny. The cause of that is that Johnny was a salesman on the streets, while she wanted him to work with her father’s company. But he always declined. He then forms his own band along with to mechanics, and auditions to make a record. In the start they perform a song, a religious song about God. But that song didn’t work out. They couldn’t make a record with that. Johnny then chooses to sing one of the songs he wrote in the army, and his band members played along with him. Somewhere in the song he sings “I shot a man, just to see him die”. And this song bought them the record, and soon many more. Then he began performing on the stages, one bigger than another. He also meets with the very famous June Carter, and slowly falls deeply in love with her, all while having a music tour with her. In the meantime his wife is pregnant with a second baby. To one of the concerts, where many famous singers appear, like Elvis Presley, Johnny begins to take drugs, and have affairs with his girl-fans. That is mostly the gender of his fans. While time goes by, Johnny buys new furniture, and the house of his, becomes a beautiful places, for his daughter, and the new baby-girl. But Viv isn’t satisfied. She doesn’t like the girls all sending him letters and pictures of themselves in almost no clothes. Plus she begins to have a feeling of an affair going on between Johnny and June. And she isn’t wrong. One day Johnny actually goes so far, as to sleep with June, and she finds out, that he’s taking drugs, so she flushes out all the pills into the toilet, and makes him “clean”. But not for a long. Johnny buys some drugs, and gets into jail. His whole life almost crashes down- Vivian takes away the girls and leaves him, June doesn’t want to speak with him, not to mention that his father still has a grudge against Johnny. But by the time, June comes to forgive Johnny, and he asks her to marry him, but she declines, and tell him never to speak to her again, only at the scene. So he thought of a funny idea. While singing on the scene, he stops. He doesn’t want to continue, without asking June a question. Unaware she replies “What John?”. And he stand there firmly on the scene, with a big audience and asks “Do u want to marry me?”. After a couple of minutes, she says “Yes. Yes Johnny I want to marry you”. He lives happily, with his many kids, and his father that finally came to forgive him.
