I think the poem is great. I was entertained, when I read it. Jack mentions some pretty wild stuff like the volcano that just erupted, less than half a mile away and there’s a dragon blowing smoke rings that normally won’t happen in the daily round – but he’s still bored. It’s very flippant and ironic written. But that’s the point, and I like it. Altogether the poem gives a touch of a funny poem, written by an author who understands irony and humor.
My own experience:
I’m bores sometimes. Of course I am – everyone is. Some people are just more bored than others, but everyone feel bored sometimes. I’m am bored and yawns when I’m doing something I don’t find interesting. Like waiting for the bus or in queues. But who does find that interesting? Everything in life can’t be an adventure. But if it were, we wouldn’t appreciate it. There has to be some boring stuff, before we can feel the fun stuffs. We need something to compare with.
When I’m bored, I begin to feel very tired and want to sleep, so I kind of try to do something that entertains me. When I’m at home, I quiet often feel bored, if I’m alone, but then I’ll just watch a movie or read a book. You just have to find something that kills the time. I also think that you’ll easier get bored, if you have a bad patience. You’ll quicker get irritated and annoyed, when you have nothing to do. We’re all different, and will react different. Some people can sit in hours without feeling bored. I’m kind of in the middle. Sometimes I can go around in my home, not really doing anything, but yet not feeling bored, and other times boredom just comes like a lightning to me.
